Foxhunting In Ireland
Foxhunting in Ireland was an awakening experience. Hunts in our region are centered around ettiquite, manners and tradition, and the locals hunts Laurel and myself went on were relaxed about attire, but were about keeping up with the hounds and, if lucky, the fox. The hunts also turned out to be small, allowing riders to be near the hounds and gain an understanding of their training and gave a chance to get acquainted with the staff of the hunt. Cantering down paved roads and jumping barbed wire proved to be a thrilling and unexpected experience. Even with all of this being so new, we seemed to make enough of an impression to be invited back for a second hunt before we headed back to the US.
